How to make Butternut squash for your munchkin.

Before my little piglet was born I decided in advance that I was going to make my own baby food.. There are just so many benefits to making it at home. It's not only more fresh, but healthier and even cheaper! It also doesn't contain as much sodium, sugar, corn syrup that other baby food products carry. :)

And there you have it! I hope this recipe helps. :) I find it to be a fun recipe to make and Evelynne absolutely  loves it!

Have a very blessed day dear Friends!!

Homemade Apple Sauce.

That's It. Easy Peasy! Ask your pediatrician about adding some cinnamon for new tastes if your making it for your infant. I always add just a dash of cinnamon for Evie and I both to enjoy!

Homemade Apple fritters.

Did I mention that fall is one of my favorite seasons of the year? The beautiful colors of the leaves, hoodie weather, scarfs, and those pumpkin spice lattes from Panera bread melt my heart! Yes, I know it's summer at the moment but yesterday I couldn't help but have a fall spirit! No, no I didn't decorate the house in fall decor, and I didn't make momma's apple pie. But, I did make apple fritters! Home made too. I decided I wanted to make Leon something special for when he returned home from work. And I have never made him anything like this before. So I thought I'd give it a try. And I'm really glad I did because it turned out delicious! I looked up the pie crust on the internet but the filling I pretty much went with the flow.

Apple Fritters.

Ingredients:
  • 2 1/2 cups Gold Medal white all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup butter or shortening
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup cold water

 Pie Crust:
  1. Chill the shortening/butter and liquid in the freezer. Chilling prevents the flour and butter from forming a creamy consistency, rather than the crumbly consistency you need for pie dough.
  2. Combine flour, salt and chilled butter with a pastry cutter. Blend the mixture until it is crumbled into pieces about the size of small peas. Slowly add chilled water one tablespoon at a time into the mix by stirring with a fork until the dough sticks together into small 1 inch sized clumps.
  3. Remove the dough from the bowl and divide it into two portions. Slightly flatten each portion, wrap them in a plastic wrap and refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes. This will make the dough more elastic and will give the crust a better texture when baked.
  4. Remove one portion of the dough from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes. Remove the plastic wrap and place it on a dry, clean surface dusted with flour. Slightly flatten with your hands and begin to roll with the rolling pin.
  5. Roll into small circles or really any shape you want. As long as you can close the filling in it without leakage.

Fritter filling:

1. Cut up apples into small bite size pieces. I used three Fuji apples.
2. Add cinnamon and sugar.
3. Add just a drop of water to help the mixing process.
4. Mix the apples, cinnamon and sugar until it is evenly mixed.

I didn't measure the cinnamon and sugar I just added as I went along.. I greatly approve taste testing. ;)

  cooking:

 1. Preheat the oven to 350.
2. Place the filling in the dough leaving room to be ble to close it.
3. Close the dough over the filling.
4. Pinch the sides of the dough to prevent leakage.
5. Decorate the top with cinnamon and sugar.
6. Let cook until golden brown. Mine was done within about five minutes.

So there you have it! I hope you enjoy them =)

Strawberry salad.

So, I have been having major cravings for fruit during my second trimester. Honestly... I feel like if I could live on fruit for the rest of my life, I easily would! And to show my undying love for fruit I wanted to share this amazing salad recipe with you that I adore! It's pretty simple and tastes delish!

What you will need for a company of four.
1. one carton of strawberries.
2. A large can of  mandarin oranges
3. a large can of pineapples.
4. about a handful of blueberries
5. a handful of pecans.
6. chicken.
7. Romaine lettuce

And of course you can make more or less changes if one desires. It's pretty much impossible to make this salad less wonderful!

Directions:  Pretty much just mix it all together with a cup of love and enjoy with your favorite salad dressing ;)

Dressing recommendations vinaigrette Poppy seed dressing. It tastes great with the fruit!
What I don't recommend is ranch, but you never know. You might like it!
